thank you for your attention on this matter. I look forward to a favourable reply from you soon.

( sign neatly)

pointers:
  1. when starting the letter at the 1st paragrah you can say things like " this school has done well in blah blah blah...." something like complementing 'ang jiawei', but DO NOT EVER SAY THINGS LIKE "you are very pretty and the school will soar to greater heights with your management". its boot licking already. haha
  2. sign off as "yours sincerely" , ONLY IF U KNOW THE RECIPIENT.
  3. sign off as " yours faithfully ", ONLY IF U DO NOT KNOW THE RECIPIENT
  4. if u do not know the recipient start of f the letter with" dear sir/ madam."
  5. this is more of a persuasive letter
  6. do not completely refer to this format. somethigns depends on the qn that day

jiayou!!

lukhei and jiawei

Ms Low told our class that the Paper 1 Situational writing will be a Formal Letter. And it will be a persuasive writing (persuading the person to take on your suggestion). She gave us some slides. I'm here to share! Haha. :)
It's slides in .pdf format. Have fun. Haha.

Things to take note of for english Comprehension
1. Grammar
-Minus 1/2 marks for every grammatical mistake
- Answer according to the tense of the QUESTION, not passage
-past tense? present tense? future tense?
2. Give a CLEAR answer
-for 1 mark questions, don't give 3 lines!
3. Quote EXACTLY
-quote "s" and "ed" accordingly from the passage, don't drop any letter
-When asked to pick out a WORD, give ONE word, don't kiasu
-Phrase is normally 2-7 words
4. DO NOT SLEEP AFTER THE PAPER, CHECK FOR MISTAKES.
5. Don't re-express in your own words unless instructed to
-not primary school style, copy paste from passage! but pick out the neccessary points only of course...
6. For "use your own words" questions,
-underline keywords to change
-esp must change verbs, nouns, prepostitions don't need to change
7. Adapt the answer to suit the question
e.g. Why was Musa selected to go on the hunt? wrong one: men who had proven that they are brave were selected to go on the hung correct one: it is because Musa had proven that he was brave enough

And continued
Oh yeah, credits to hcjc, LOL. Read what you think is relevant. OH YEAH, AND THE PICTURES ARE REALLY BIG BECAUSE I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW MY SCANNER WORKS. Also, it sucks alot of battery and I don't think it'll load if your whole class is using their tablet. Anyway, good luck :D
English Comprehension Tips HAHAHA,YEAH, THERE ARE TIPS FOR ENGLISH COMPREHENSION. Got this from my brother (:
Skim through the passages to know their general subject and direction, and skim through the questions to know what information is required, before reading the passage more carefully. When skimming, pick out the main ideas that are often located at the start of the paragraphs, and skip examples and details.
It is even more important to read the questions carefully.
Most questions specify which part of the passage to focus on (e.g. “From paragraph 2”). Your answer should be taken from these paragraphs only.
Time management is essential.
Being widely read is definitely a boon. Extensive reading improves you vocabulary and mastery of the language and it will often aid you in the understanding the content of the passages.I'll continue the next section tomorrow, gotta get back to my chinese.
